The story is a coming-of-age tale that centers around a man who returns to his childhood home and reminisces about a traumatic event that occurred there when he was seven years old. How I found the book?

I had just finished watching a video about a booktuber who was talking about Neil Gaiman's work and I decided to check the library at my school to see if they had the book. Luckily they did.

The ratings

My overall rating: ☆☆☆☆
Plot: ☆☆☆☆
Characters: ☆☆☆☆
Engaging: ☆☆☆☆

The review

One of the most striking things about The Ocean at the End of the Lane is Gaiman's ability to tap into the reader's own memories and emotions. The novel's depiction of childhood is both familiar and uncanny, evoking a sense of longing and nostalgia for a time that can never be regained.

The characters in the novel are also well-crafted. The protagonist, an unnamed narrator, is a believable and relatable character, and the supporting cast, including the Hempstock family and the mysterious Ursula Monkton, are equally memorable.

Do I recommend this book and why?

Yes. It is a beautifully written and emotionally resonant novel that explores the power of memory and the enduring impact of childhood experiences. It creates a sense of nostalgia and longing for the past. It's a must-read for fans of Gaiman's work, as well as anyone who enjoys coming-of-age stories with a fantastical twist.
